Advantages
- Products are miscible for adjustment of film hardness
- High plasticizer barrier effect
- High weather resistance (exposure to UV light)
Coatings Options
PVCu is a very hard, brittle plastic. The addition of plasticizers makes it flexible and suitable for many fields of application, such as tent canvas, truck canvas, shower curtains and tarpaulins. The plasticized material often shows a tendency to plasticizer migration, which makes the surface become tacky. This is prevented by finishing with very hard polymers on an MMA base. Suitable products are DEGALAN® M 912, M 914 and M 920.
Miscibility
- The DEGALAN® grades can be very simply mixed with each other to adjust the individual plasticizer content of the PVC substrate.
- The film flexibility can be adjusted by mixing DEGALAN® MB 319.
- The highest plasticizer barrier effect is obtained with the products DEGALAN® LP 51/03, DEGALAN® M 920, M 914 and M 820. DEGALAN® M 914 dissolves very rapidly.
- The product DEGALAN® M 912 can be employed to formulate more highly concentrated coating materials. In this case, however, the plasticizer barrier effect is lower than with DEGALAN® LP 51/03, DEGALAN® M 920, M 914 and M 820.
Crosslinkable Product
Coatings with extremely resistant surfaces can be obtained by crosslinking DEGALAN® MV 692 with isocyanates.
Anti-Blocking Additive
The crosslinked polymer DEGALAN® M 726 is suitable for adjusting anti-blocking and surface slip characteristics of films. It can also serve as a flatting agent.
