DEGALAN® FOR PVC TOP COATS

Röhm offers a wide range of DEGALAN® grades for PVC top coats for various substrates such as paper, thermoplastics, metals and polyolefin substrates.

Unplastified PVC is a very hard, brittle plastic. Adding plasticizers makes PVC flexible and usable for many fields of application such as tent canvas, truck canvas, shower curtains and tarpaulins. The plasticized material has a tendency to plasticizer migration, which makes the surface tacky. PVC top coating with DEGALAN® products with very hard polymers based on MMA prevents tackiness. This is where products like DEGALAN® M 345 and M 920 are used.

Further product advantages arise from their problem-free miscibility to adjust them to the individual plasticizer content of the PVC substrate. Particularly resistant coating surfaces are obtained by crosslinking DEGALAN® with isocyanates. Specially crosslinked polymeric DEGALAN® grades ensure the optimum adjustment of the antiblocking and lubricant properties of films. These grades can also be used as dulling agents.
